THEATRE BLAST at ASA
An introduction to theatre performance and production.
NOTE: This if a full year course and is available for 5th and 6th grade ASA students only.
THEATRE BLAST offers our youngest ASA students the opportunity to explore the world of theatre in a safe and encouraging environment. Students will learn to develop characters, scenes and whole productions through improvisation, skill building and ensemble dynamics. The course includes a basic introduction to acting, performance, auditioning, playwriting and play production. This program is available from 3:00pm – 4:00pm and is considered an after school program for students in grades 5 and 6. Maximum classroom size is 20 students and registration is required through Phoenix Theatre. Though the class will not be weighed with the student’s school grading, students are expected to attend and participate in this class as they would all other activities at Arizona School for the Arts.

Course Objectives:
- Students develop an appreciation for theatre arts as a valuable part of their lives
- Students can articulate basic terminology for theatre performance and production
- Students learn basic skills in performance and production
- Students learn the process to create and produce a minimal theatre production
- Students build community through theatrical games and activities
- Students create and produce their own theatrical production
