NOISES OFF
By Michael Frayn
Undoubtedly Broadway’s greatest farce! Noises Off pushes farce as far as it can go, following the onstage and backstage antics of a fifthrate acting troupe touring in a new, horribly written sex farce called Nothing On. The curtain opens on the dress rehearsal of the first act the night before it opens and with things not going well. In the second act, we hear the first act of Nothing On from backstage as the wheels start to come off after a month of touring on the road. The third act takes us to the second month of touring. It is, deliciously so, a hilarious disaster with each act packed with more laughs than the one
before it!
“The most dexterously realized comedy ever…”
– The New York Times
“The funniest farce ever written! Never before has side-splitting taken
on a meaning dangerously close to the non-metaphorically medical.”
– New York Post
“As side-splitting a farce as I have seen. Ever? Ever.”
– New York Magazine
